Not All Goodbyes Are Sad

Hey there!

Ever feel like your phone’s glued to your hand? Or maybe you’re surrounded by people who just bring you down?  Yeah, me too. That’s when I realized that sometimes, disconnecting is exactly what we need.

Don’t get me wrong, connections are awesome. Our besties, fam, and that feeling of belonging – it’s all good stuff. But what if I told you that certain disconnections can be pretty darn beneficial too?

Think about it like this:

Ditched the Drama, Found the Peace: We all know those people. The energy vampires, the Debbie Downers. The ones who suck the fun out of the room faster than a Dyson. Peace out!  Saying goodbye to toxic people can be scary, but trust me, it’s so freeing. You deserve to be around people who lift you up, not drag you down.

Social Media? More Like Social Media!: Let’s be honest, scrolling through other people’s perfect lives can make us feel, well, not-so-perfect. FOMO (fear of missing out) is a real thing, but it’s totally hyped. Taking a break from social media can help you refocus on your own amazing life, and maybe even appreciate it more.

Workaholic Who? Nope, Not Me:  Constantly checking work emails and calls? Been there, done that. But guess what?  It’s a recipe for burnout. Separating yourself from work after hours helps you recharge and come back feeling more focused and productive. Plus, you deserve some time to relax and do the things you enjoy! ‍

Bye-bye Bad Vibes:  Negativity can be like a cold – it spreads fast! Being around negative people or constantly bombarded by bad news can bring you down. So, be mindful of who you spend time with and what media you consume. Surround yourself with positive people who will uplift you, and ditch the negativity.

Now, listen up: disconnecting doesn’t mean becoming a hermit. It’s about taking a step back from things that drain your energy.   How do you know when it’s time to disconnect?  Easy –  pay attention to yourself. Feeling constantly stressed, anxious, or just plain blah? It might be time to make a change.

Disconnecting can be scary, but it’s also super rewarding. So next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t be afraid to take a break. You might be surprised at how good it feels.
